Brief Description:  Finally bit the bullet - Skybolts

"I have been confering with Skybolt company for some time, and never felt quite sure I could do them. I saved some bucks by buying an old kit, then upgrading it with the latest systems. Still some things I am unsure of, but this morning I installed the first Skybolt - and it worked out just fine. I am impressed with how small they are and how little sticks up when installed. This is a very expensive method of hooking on a cowling, but I just did not like any of the other options very much. Now all I have to do is figure out how to drill the holes in the cowling so they match the flanges riveted to the firewall etc.
Basically you take all the parts in image 1, assemble them with some special tools, and when done the image 2 is what you wind up with. Very neat and attractive looking, I am very pleased. These are very sophisticated fasteners actually, and a nice feature is that they are adjstable so that each one fastens the cowling tightly. This is the same company that makes such things for the space shuttle and high end aircraft. Quite suitable for Air Force One I feel."
