"I think a big part of learning processes when building an aircraft, is the need to be constantly looking ahead for needed solutions to problems.
One of these issues is an oil access door, a small door that you can check the oil and add some if necessary. This door ideally should be a smooth profile, with no protruding hinges or latches. These stainless steel hinges from McMaster Carr are ideal. The first photo shows the closed position of the door, photo two the open position, I have drawn lines to simulate the actual door and cowling skin.
Photo three provides a glimpse of what the final door will look like on the plane."
