Brief Description:  Lots of Detours

Well as if I did not have a croc full of problems with trying to finish up and perfect wiring of sensors and nav/com, the wing tanks reared their ugly heads.
The suggested installation left me with a lot of things I wanted to improve upon for my own peace of mind, but that gets more and more complicated. Fortunately a friend Bill Dye has his and is actively installing them, and had lots of the same ideas I did. Photos one and two are from his project, photo 3 is from the Viking people, showing the tanks ready to ship.
As photo two shows, one of the improvements is to move the filler cap out beyond the 13th rib, making it easier to fill I think. The vent system did not agree with the FAA principles of venting tanks, now it is fully compliant and gives me a lot of peace of mind. I have ordered piles of installation items, should be here next week, I have no idea when the tanks will arrive.
Among the pile of items are 2000 more rivets, did I mention that I have to take off at least two of the wing skins? I may have to remove more, but that is enough to make me cry, I just hate tearing apart things I have built only to rebuild them.
