Brief Description:  Prop and Cowling Stuff

"Still working on the new cowling and prop stuff, cannot finalize it until the spinner arrives, and the new Sensenich two blade propellor.
First photo is the new 13 inch spinner backing plate mockup, which allows me to final cut and fit the cowling to a plug, that wnen removed will become the spinner position. I will fasten the cowling to this plug, which will give me a fixed position from which to fit the rear of the cowling to the firewall and the bottom cowling to the top, We want a small amount of clearance between the spinner and the cowling. The second ring of plywood will be spaced from the front one to make this a precise location. This far larger spinner should help the aerodynamics of the frontal area.
Photo two shows what needs to be removed from the cowlings in order for it to straddle the nose gear strut. So far this is a calculated cut that may have to be altered slightly when the spinner arrives.
The third photo shows the as delivered fit between the top and bottom cowling. This looks like a minor smoothing is all that will be required to make the final fit. I am happy I am using skybolts, it looks like it would be a nightmare to mold a hinge to make the compound curves of the joint at this location.."
