Brief Description:  Problem Solving

"Well, not much done today, but mentally I feel relieved. I was puzzled over how I was going to get the cowling cut to fit, since when installed the cowling covers the edge that needs matched. Jan gave me a answer to my dilemma, and the first photo is an attempt to show it for others. You take a 2 inch tape and put the edge of it where you need the cut to be (note upper portion of photo 1). Then lap the cowling over it (Note the fiberglass piece covering the edge). Next you put a piece of the same width tape with the back edge even with the first piece, and the cut line is the edge of the tape just applied. Mark it and cut it, and it will be perfectly matched to the airframe. Simple enough, but this old brain could not figure that out by myself.
He also recommended I start with the BOTTOM cowling first, then fit the top to it. I am very pleased with the large top cowling, by removing only it, you have full access to almost all of the engine! Photo three shows how easy it would be to change plugs, injectors, fuel filter, etc, etc. with only the top cowling removed
Oh yeah, by the way my oil cooler installation that I THOUGHT would clear the cowling OK, in fact did."
