Brief Description:  Hooking up the Autopilot and Control stuff

Well, another of those days when you don't have much to show. Primarily I worked on finalizing some of the systems I had roughed in, and hooked up the control system and the roll servo for the autopilot. I got the mixer assembly in backwards at first, had to remove it and reinstall it correctly. You can see the difference between the first and last photo. This aircraft uses "flaperons", which is a fancy word for making the ailerons do double duty as flaps. I always thought that was a neat way to do things, but never actually put one together. You can follow it in the photos to see when you pull the flap lever (blue pipe in the phtotos) you still have full aileron control! With the plane having pretty much full span ailerons, the flaps are pretty impressive as well. Sure wish Ercoupe had incorporated this in their system. Its control mechanism already gets pretty busy anyhow, working the rudders and ailerons at the same time which allows you to drive it like a car.
