Brief Description:  This is what led to all this

Purchased Kit Log Pro to start recording construction.
It is difficult to establish a "starting date" for this project, but it was actually back around 1943. I did not have a lot of aeronautical knowledge at the time, but was certain that I could build a better airplane! Living on a farm, the scrap iron pile was ripe with possibilities, and my eyes caught an entire front axle complete with tires and wheels from a 1 1/2 ton truck that had gone to truck heaven long before, and better yet - the tires held air! Starting with my new found "landing gear" I went back to the drawing board for the finer details. We had no runway, not a problem, I decided one could make the wing tilt up for vertical takeoff and landing. For some reason, I was convinced a pair of VW engines would do that trick just fine. I felt someone robbed me of my idea when I first saw the V22 Osprey the military came up with decades later!
The dream was never fulfilled, and thru the years of providing for a family, a career as a military officer, and various other distractions, the dream never died either. I found myself finally financially able, and with a double car garage on my house that was heated and air conditioned, thought it was time to fulfill my almost lifetime dream!
I decided that my original concept had some flaws I probably could not work out (besides my dad had sent that axle to the scrap yard years ago), so after quite an extensive search of homebuilts, decided the RV 12 would fill my requirements to a T! I have the enire RV 12 tool kit already, and am waiting for the metal with all the holes punched, so I can start putting rivets in the holes. Sounds simple enough.
