Today I finished connecting everything in the wing root. Only to find that in order to hang the ailerons, I 1st need to 'center' and align the aileron linkages. This involves using a template that is supplied in the Vans kit, Fortunately I was able to find it in my 'unused parts' box. It sounds easy enough but it involved multiple back and forth measurements and adjustments to both sides of the control linkages in order to get the aileron bellcranks in exactly the same position on both sides AND the control sticks centered in the coskpit. It took 3 hours just to accompllish this task. Then I began to hang the ailerons. I needed a quick trip to Aerozona for some bushings, the painter appears to have discarded the old ones that were sent with the part to paint. I've got both ailerons attached, However until I get the flaps and the wing tips installed Its difficult to know if they are in the right place. So I've left the rod end adjustments loose until the flaps are installed.
