Yesterday and today were used primarily for setting the elevator trim tabs. Initially I thought I had a problem because when I slid the AN4 & 3 bolts through the elevator horns, they seems to be misalligned, %$@%@!~!!!!. I fretted over how to fix this and then went ahead and installed the bolts with the appropriate washers and torqued to spec, and VIOLA!! when all was said and done they lined up perfectly 9just like they did 3 years ago when I drilled them in the 1st place !!)) I gues that with the bols loose without washers there was enough play in the joint to allow for misallignmnet. So with th eelevators connected to the control torque tube and the HS. I proceeded to set the trim tabs per Bill de Rouchey's 4 step process archived in Matronics list. I ttook several attempts to locate the control cables properly within the Rivethead threaded 'nutplates' but I think I've got it pretty well nailed down. In the end I chose NOT to countersink the screws holding the rivethead CNC pieces because I didn't wan't to weaken them by countersinking then any on the thin edges. I just installed them w/ SS # 6 screws and nylock nuts. I moved on to the Rudder, the original routing into the rubber fairings didn't work and interferred with the fairing. I moved the taillight ground wire inside of the tail cone and then cut a wide 5/8" high oval in the fron of the rudder fairing sufficient to allow for full movement of the rudder without any interference to the cable.
