Rob has begun prepping the parts for paint. I'm quite embarrassed to find that he found a major problem with some of the prep work I did on the wingtips. It seems that I had NOT abraided the surface of the tips before applying body filler to blend in the lens covers !!!!! I'm not sure why or how this happenned because I know that's a no-no, but the photos don't lie. Fortunately Rob found it and is fixing it, Otherwise, I'd have some major problems with an expensive paint job down the road. His initial focus is on all of the fiberglass parts (with the exception of the fuse & cowl). Then he'll move on to prepping and then painting the wings and flying surfaces, and then finish up with the same on the fuse. I'm going over today to pick p a sample 'spray-out' he did of the paint colors I selected, hopefully to finalize them, He's finishing up a Lancair IV PT, that is just beautiful !!! Then I'm off to OSH on Sunday for most of next week. I'm back Thurs pm, and then off again Fri am to fly to San Jose and drive from there to Long Island NY w/ my daughter who is moving her DNA/RNA cancer reasearch to the lab at Cold Springs Harbor.
Looks like I had a Major goof here
