Brief Description:  Sec 47 hinge-1

Installed the Hidden hinge keeper from Carbinge.com. i found out about these from Ed Hayden. They consist of a machined piece that's about .0275 in OD and is barbed so that it can be floxed into the front of the cowl. In this case the rings. Then there is a stainless steel rin that is slightly undersized from the regular pin that comes with the hinge. This ss pin is silversoldered to a threaded insert that gets threaded into the barbed machined fitting that is floxed in the cowl face. The threaded insert has a Hex key machined into the open end so that the pin and threaded insert can be secured in place. AFter the Machined barbed fitting gets cured. I fill fill the opening where it got inserted and it will get painted so that there will be only a small 3/32" hole that will be visible. I'll look for a small white rubber plug that I might be able to insert to fill the fole when the pins is inserted. Not only is this a fairly clean and attractive option, but it is TONS easier to insert and remove the pins than the James ' was of doing it from inside the cockpit using a drill with the pin chucked in it.
