Brief Description:  Sec FF2 plenum step 2

Combo update for Wed & Thurs. The stryofoam circles that I fashioned didn't work out, there was too much of a change to accomodate. So.... I cut off the forward portion of the intake, temporarily mounted the plenum in the cowl, used some duct tape to tape the pieces in relative position, and then used some 'Great Stuff' expandable foam to fill the inerior voids and serve as a platform for laying up some fiberglass to rejoin the pieces in the proper position/orientation. Good idea, poor execution!!!! What a mess!!!!!! The foam doesn't cure well in low humidity enviornments (our humidity = <5% ! It also doesn't cure will in Large voids !!!!! Bottom line it took all day and night and several reapplications to get enough of the stuff set-up and cured sufficiently = Wed. shot! It was soo ugly that I refused to take picures! It was cured enough today that I was able to cut / sand enough away, and then I applied some plasticine clay to smooth the area and provide a better base for a new lay-up. I also had to make provisions for the 'cut-out area' for the prop governor control. I should be able to get started on the lay-up (probably will take 2 for the Left side) tomorrow, This plenum is going to take a couple more weeks, with, right side repositioning, oil filler access, Filling and squaring the sided. micro filling / sanding the intake tubes. Oh well it's summer and the livin is easy!
