Brief Description:  Sec Panel-33

Today was the BIG! day. I began today by trimming the upper lip of the fiberglass panel overlay to final size, then I filled pinholes, and sprayed 3-4 coats of Smoothprime. Sanded w/ 220 and then 320 grit. I've been absolutely dreading the thoughts of painting these panel pieces myself. My priming and past painting sessions have not set well with me, I just don't think I'm cut out to be a painter. I picked up a 'new' sprey gun from HF yesterday ($15) to use for this job. I'm using Sherwin Williams ULTRA INTERIOR paint. I had a couple of pints color matched to the leather upholstered seats. This is Auto interior paint and is mixed to a Satin-like finish. The interior colors will be coordinated. I picked up some disposable inline filters for the gun, bought some wire mesh to reduce any 'back-spray', then mixed the paint/reducer per the PDS and jumped in on the Fiberglass overlay 1st. Sprayed 4 medium wet coats per instructions, waiting 5-7 minutes between coats for the recoats. I'm MUCH relieved in that it actually turned out good!, no runs, drips, errors! So I ploughed ahead with the sub-panel inserts. same process as above, only as these are flat a little less likely to run. I've got all the parts out in the Arizona 108 degree sun baking and curing. I think I'll let them 'sun-dry' for the rest of the week before messing with them.
