Brief Description:  Sec Panel-29

The two largest areas to complete are the engine installation and the panel installation, Part of them are interconnected as the engine controls are mounted in the panel. So I need to get the panel ready for a final mount so I can locate the controls for the engine. The panel i have is NOt for an RV-10, as it does not match the contoure of the upper fwd fuse/glareshield. I saw another builders / fix which was to make a cut on the face of the panel equal to the width of the edge piece that needs to be recontoured, I clecoed some scrap alum to the panel to match the contour of the glareshield, and then used some clamps to clamp the 'free' fiberglass piece to it. I took the heat gun and heated the section as it was clamped to the correct contour, let it cool and then removed the clamps. It worked pretty good, I then applied a 4 ply lay-up on the backside of the panel to close the gap that was created and to hold the pieces in their new position. Used some filler to blend the forward face. I also needed to true up the ciccular hole for the fuel valve, the initial hole was cut freehand and is not symetric. I clamped the center console to the drill press, and used a large hole saw to true-up and provide a perfect circle, I then mounted a fly cutter and used it to make a consistent 'bevel' around the opening, by starting w/ the inside diameter and then slowly increasing the diameter w small adjustments. Sanded the whole thing applied 2 ply lay-up, filled and sanded. Looks much better now
