Brief Description:  Rebuilt 1/2 of Audio Panel harness

I noticed some 'noise' during a checkout of the audio panel/intercom. It appears to be comming from the cooling Fan on the EFIS, with only one system turned on it's bearely detectable. however with both systems on, it's more noticable and begins to 'harmonize lite a twin with it's props out of sysc. I began today by checking the wiring on the back of the audio panel, and found that there were several pins that were frayed and shorting to each other. The root problem was that I used 20 ga. and should have used 22 ga, when stripping the wires, they stripped to 22 ga, but the crimps on the pins did not catch the insulation, and as tension got put on the harness the insulation and the outer wires pulled away from the crimped wired and created a problem. I made another trip to town and picked up some more 22 ga shielded twisted pair, and spent the rest of the day remaking the J2 harness. While i'm very happy that this problem was found before the panel was mounted in the a/c (which would have been a bugger to fix) sadly it did not eliminate the noise probllem. the only other 'issue' with the OP Tech is that the Main GPS received 'invalid messages' Talking to Mark @ Op tech he explained that this was most likely because I'm indoors under a tile roof. So today I picked up 40' of RG58 to make a cable long enough to get the GPS antenna outside so it can see the sky. Tomorrow's taks to test.
