Brief Description:  Sec 43 Overhead step 8

I need to get the tailcone top skin closed up so I can fill/sand the cabin cover and prime. I called Tony Sustare Fri. w/ a question regarding the ducting for the overhead, and he told me about a builder Larry Baker who had come up with an easier and better way to plumb/duct outside air into the Overhead console, He sent me a pdf w/ some pics. Basically it amounts to a couple of NACA vents placed aft of the baggage builkhead w/ some scat tube ducted up to them. Larry claims that he has plenty of airflow even while taxing with this arrangement. So I cut off the ends of the NACA vents (after ordering 2 more for the front), made a template from the front cutout, and then traced it to the rear, and proceeded to use the Dremel to cut out the NACA openings. cleaned them up w/ some emery cloth and files, Sanded the ducts, then primed w/988. Prepared some Pro-Seal and attached them to the sides where the cutouts are. I added 3 pop rivets, as I recently read about a builder who had his NACA vent pop off while preparing for paint. I'll sand and fill the pop rivets so they don't show. I cut 3' lengths of 2" scat, and attached one length to each side. I used some tie wraps to anchor the ducts to the upper tailcone stiffeners. Then I began the process of riveting the top skin on. But 1st I had to find the backing strip I put away several/months ago. It's been months since I did any riveting and it shows!!! I'm going to need Judy's extra hands and arms tomorrow to finish this off. It's kind of a pain, because you have to remove the 4 bolts coupling the longerons together in order to get to the rivets along the longerons.
