Brief Description:  Sec 43 Overhead Console step 2

Started by floxing in the Air Vent retainer rings. Being particularly careful to not get any flox on the threads of the vents themselves. Also Drilled and floxed the coat hanger rod. I had a 12" 1/4" drill bit so I was able to get it very close to the surface. While that was setting up did a little yad work. then Came back and drilled the holes for the light switches and also the hole for the Baggage light. then I installed the nutplates. I added about 7 nutplates for a total of 22. Some of the pictures that I've seen show a slight bowing of the close out piece after the seal has been added. I wanted to avoid that if possible, hence the extra nutplates they are aprox 2 5/8" to 2 3/4" on center. Then preparred for the big moment. of bonding the console to the cabin. First I trimed the console so that the edges sit just below the top of the curved channel around the door frames (to minimize sanding later on). Then followed the directins in tony's instructions, sanded bot surfaced w/ 60 grit, Wetted out a 1" strip w/ epoxy. then mixed up the epoxy, silica. microfiber flox paste and applied it wi big popcicle sticks. It took tow batches the 1st batch used 5 pumps from the West system epoxy/resin containers and the second batch used 7 pumps. The plans say to use clamps, but I experimented with #40 clecos and found that if you're careful you can drillonly through the inside cabin skin and not both the inside and outside and tihs made a great way to both allign and clamp the console while curing. i'll let it set up overnight and begin smoothing/fairling tomorrow.
