Began steps to add access panels in the upper forward fuse. This is another Dave McNeil suggestion, and it's just too easy of a modification Not to take advantage of. Access behind the instrument panel is severly restricted in the RV-10. and my panel configuration is particular will benefit from being able to access many of the componentd from the top vs the bottom of the panel.
I began by sizing the door ( 6"x8"). I cut out doors from .032 2024T3, and then traced the outline onto the upper fowd fuse. The panels are roughly centered between the center rib and the outboard rib. I cut out the opening being careful to stay inside of the marked lines. I'm going to make the doublers 3/8" wider then the opening. I'll attach countersunk nutplates to the doublers and countersink the access covers, so that they will sit flush with the upper fwd fuse deck and attach with countersunk screws.
I got the Right side cut out before calling it quits for the night.
