I finally got the painter to look at the plane on Monday and give me an estimate. I've been going through it with him today, if we can agree hopefully he will pick up the plane tomorrow. The kids have been home from school on a visit this week, and so I haven't tried to do much. they left today, and so I decided I'd fabricate and install some baggage tie down plates. I got this idea from David McNeil, as well as the piano hinge to make the tie downs. THANKS DAVID !!! Each tie down consists of a 2 1/2" piece of 1 1/2" hinge, I step drilled two 1/2" holes on one side of each plate, then deburred them. I installed them using CS 4-4 pop rivets, I drilled and riveted the aft side of the tie down to the rib that supports the baggage floor on the sides. 2 additional rivets are placed on the fwd portion of the tie down and are attached to just the baggage floor. When the tie downs are not in use they will be folded over themselves, and hidden under the carpet. To use them, flip them up and attach a bunge/strap throug one or both of the holes.
