Brief Description:  Sec Home-77

At 11:05 am the UPS driver delivered a long awaited package. It contained Control Approach RV-10 rudder/brake pedals. I saw a prototype of these over a year ago at a dinner @ Paul Grimstad's home. I was facinated by them then and begged Paul, if he decided to produce these for sale that I would be his 1st customer. Paul called a few days ago with news that the 1st prod. sets were ready, my check was in the mail the next day. These pedals address one of the shortcomings of Van's designs, which makes the RV10 look like it is indeed an amatuer built airplane. These pedals remove the last piece of the 'utilitarian look' and replace it with a truely elegant & professionally engineered piece of equipment that looks every bit as good as the ones on my Baron. I've followed Pauls progress since then, He's really gone about this the right way. All of the parts are CAD designed, the metal pieces are either CNC or laser cut, and all of the welding is done in jig's. The pedals arrive in 2 halves completely assembled, you just install & torque 2 bolts to join them together. I had just finished installing my center console. So I needed to remove that (1 1/2 hour) and then remove the old Van's pedals, another 1 1/2 hour. I disassembled the Matco brake cyls from the old pedals and left them 'dangling' to later be reattached to the new CA pedals. If you were doing this modification initially instead of a retro fit, it would be a breeze and the whole thing could be done in 3-4 hours work. It would actually save time over the stock pedals. For a fat ol'man, under the instrument panel on a 110 degree day, takes a little longer.
