After fitting the wingtip closeout ribs and double checking, I filled them w/ SuperFil for improved aesthetics. Unfortunately when I went out to remount them after sanding them flush. THEY WOULD NOT FIT !?!?!?!?! Something happened with the addition of the Superfil to expand the area so that they will no longer fit between the wing skins, and I'm back to where I was before I replaced them!!!!!! Put them aside for now - Too frustrating..... Want to mount and drill the wings but it's been too rainy the past few days. hopefull tomorrow we can get at least one done. Meantime I completed as much of Sec 44 as possible, forming the lower wing root fairings and riveting the stiffeners to the upper fairings. I also completed some misc tasks on the cowl where I replaced the upper hinge pins with .090" dia. somehow, I missed this in the plans because I did the James cowl, but I was REALLY frustrated trying to get the .12" ss pins installed. I had to do some 'adjustment to the hinges but I've to both sides installed, I also put the pin 'locking' fixture in place, it will require some fine tuning and adjustment and some longer screws b4 going to paint. Replaced the 'locking clips in the Camlocs for the oil access door, and I borrowed Dad's polisher & polished the interior door handles while visiting Mom & Dad last night.
