After installing the new Performance Aero Oil cooler (this one is more efficient than Van's and has been reported to drop oil temps 8 degrees, which inArizona is a must!) I continued with electrical systems today. The major task centered around the Door ajar warning system. 1st task here is to attach the reed switches to each of the 4 door receiver holes. I was able to use the existing bolt holes for the Riverhead receivers and subsitute a longer bolt. Even though I'm using the rivethead door receivers, I'm having the latch pins project through the receivers and through the intercostals, the same as the Van's latch pins. There is an increased/likely case for paint chipping due to the extended door pins, but I like the security of having the pins continue all the way through. Next was to fabricate the mounting plate for the relays. I decided to mount the relays on the top of the Left gear leg mount, along with the relays for the trim motors. I had to run a power llead for the relays, and I also had a power lead and ground lead for the pitch trim that I needed to run, This necessatitated another trip under the panel with dykes and tywraps in hand to ties these wires to the extisting bundles and try and make things somewhat organized under the panel. I also received (via Overnight UPS !!!!!) a replacement relay deck from CH. THANKS Kevin I didn't expect such prompt service. I remounted the relay deck in it's previous position.
