Brief Description:  Sec Ram-5

Finished off the cowl mod for the Ram air today. (minus the polished indusction ring to come later). Used Metal Galze to build up some of the low areas affected by the 'bumps' and then sanded everything smooth/flush. Also sanded out the runs from yesterdays priming wi primer that was too thin. It's difficult to get the consistency of the primer just right, too thick and it clogs up and won't shoot, too thin and it runs with the lightest application. Anyway put about 6 oz of smooth prime back on the cowl, 4 seperate applications, some sanding in between. then when all dry. sanded w/150, then 220 then 320 grit. I bought a soft rubber 'funnel ring' from Checker auto, they are made by Specter inductries and sold as 'reducers' for diy induction systems. this one is a 4" down to 3". I clamped the 3" to the Ram air canister, I will put a 3"-3" coupler on the machined induction ring when it arrives and it should 'snug up' against the larder one. If its too small, There's a 3"-3 1/2" reducer than I can try also. These are fairly pliable and shoule make installing and removing the cowl easier.
