Today's task was to fabricate the upholstery overlay's for the interior of the cabin doors. I'm making fiberglass panels that match the contour of the interior of the doors. I will glue tweed fabric (tweed is the best for working with compound curves) to the fiberglass and wrap and glue it around the edges. then I will glue/velcro/attach these to the interior of the doors. This solves the problem of how to finish off the ends of the interior upholstery/fabric. Most RV's that I've seen just have a cut edge, which isn't what I want. I got the idea from the window trim rings, and in essence this whole interior door is a big window trim ring. Unfortunately I spent the entire morning around town looking (to no avail) for mold release so I could apply to the interior of the doors using them as the mold for the panel. I ended up using Saran wrap and Duct tape. The duct Tape works much better, It doesnt' look like much when it's applied, but it does the job very well and after two layers of fibergalss are laid over it, the seams and edges of the duct tape disappear. Tomorrow I'll do the other door.
