Brief Description:  Sec 45-15 Steps 1-3 Left door

John provides some valuable help today, It's amazing what having an additional pair of eyes and another head can do to enlargen your perspectives, not to mention, the additional pair of hands as well. I had hoped to get the pin bolcks drilled and mounted in the door frame and then get the gas strut braces installed. Only got the Left door installed, but it is a very good and tight fit, which is what I was hoping for. Initially we had had to interpret the drawing on page 45-15 so as to drill the angle for the 7/16 hole properly , we both went back and forth on it, I'm still not sure we did it right, BUT it fits and it works. The bottom line is that all of the holes are built for a Very close tolerance. At the onset we had way too much friction in the whole mechanism for it to work and for the pins to insert themselves into the pin blocks. So we too the door mechanism apart again, and found the we still had a lot of frinctin in the door, we carefully sanded, 220, 320, 400, 600 grit the frictin bearing parts to remove most of the friction so that the door alone worked fairly smoothly. then we found where the binding was occuring on th edoor frame and slowly using the same process honed/reamed thos holes to provide a smoother fit. There is absolutely not slop in the door, but the mechanism moves more smoothly and fully engages the pin blocks and stops over-center. a LOT of hours for not a lot to see.
