Brief Description:  Sec 45-5 Steps 8-11 Left

Popped the Left door off the Cabin top and began the process of trimming it. The plans say to trim to 1/8" off of the scribe lines. Which I did. However for 80% of my doors the scribes lines are still not enough. This is a VERY time consuming task. So far I've had the Left door on and off the Fuse about 20 times and I'm only about 1/2 the way to getting it initially fit. Talking to Gary Foster, I'm going to copy what he did, and that was after his initiall trimming/fitting of the doors and hard mounting the doors to the cabin, he taped the door edges, closed the doors on the cabin and then took a mixture of flox and forced it in between the door and the cabin top. He let it cure and then popped the doors and he's got an extremely close fit. It's also an opportunity to fix any height differences between the cabin top and the doors. It will add more time, but this is something that will make a major difference in the appearance of the plane. He also gave me an idea for a jig to make so as to be able to use the dremel tool to make the 45 degree bevel on the edge of the doors. (I'm still working on that.). Looks like all day tomorrow and possibly Thurs to get both doors initially fit, Then on to mounting them.
