Brief Description:  Sec 41- extra

IT's been a while since I've gotten any work done on the plane. Patrick returning home, fly fishing trip to Lee's Ferry, trip to OSH, return and catch-up on honey do's, and this afternoon I got back into the shop. It's also 'cooled down to 98-99! (still a bear, but doable! vs 118). there's been a bunch of noise about heat inside the cockpit. A LOT of opinion about its cause and it cure. I figure that the easiest thing to do is to keep it out of the cockpit by putting an insulating blanket on the engine side of the firewall. I got a piece of .020 stainless steel and made a pattern of the inside dimensions of the forward face of the firewall. Then used that pattern to cut out the SS. Took a while with a combo of files and emery paper to get it smooth, I'll test fit it in the am. The plan is to get it cut and drilled to match the firewall then to glue a blanket of Fiberfrax betewwn it and the original firewall. Fiberfrax is a heat barrier, and should do a pretty good job of insulating the firewall. the challenge is going to be in match drilling all of the existing holes into ne new 'FAUX' firewall.(OH YEAH!, btw while I was @ OSH ALL of my avionics & electric gear arrived!
