Brief Description:  Sec 41-2 console123

Sanded, filled, and chipped, chiseled, and dug out the foam core from the console pieces. The foam must have weighed 3-5 lbs. much lighter now. I test fit them to see if they were still going to work, and they look fine. I need to relieve the front portion of console #e so that ti sits down flush to the other parts. I had intended to leave them as two seperate pieces, but I'm rethinking that I might join them all together. I cut out the opening fo rthe door in the arm rest/map case. this has taken way more time than I thought but i'm happy with the way that it's turning out. Still some more finishing to do.I think I'v figured out how to mount the cover/hinge. the challenge is the curve on the top of the console requires the the hinge for the cover be offset about 3/16 " from the sides. I'll mount the hinge to some 5/8-3/4 " 062 alum bar and then mount that with a joggle to get the hinge level with the top of the case to some 1/8"x 1 1/2" alum bar. I'll put 3 #8 nutplates on the bar and use screws to attach it to the fiberglass sides. All fo this custom fabrication gives me a REAL appreciation for the pre punched kit.
