Brief Description:  Sec 41-1 mount instrument panel

Adapting a Lancair IV instrument panel to an RV-10, (sure why not). My initial odea for mounting the panel was to use the panel attach supports and nutplates for the original RV10 panel. The panel is somewhat curved, unlike the RV10 and so I got some various sized #8 standoffs and was intending to vary them to match the curve in the panel. However there isn't enough surface in the outer regioins of the panel to attach. Solution. I cut off the back side of the pilot side instrument opening so that it was flat/on the same plane as the radio stack. then I took the old instrument panel, and cut it so that it can be mounted to the stock panel attach supports but I left enough of aflange/border so that I can attach the flanges of the panel openings to the 'new panel support. I had to cut the old instrument panel into 2 sections. the left side (pilot and radio stack0 are in the same plane and will mount to the nee support. The co-pilot side is not in the saem plane, I put some 1/4 in standoffs behind the new support brace to bring it flush with the co-pilot side. I had to re-glass the flanges on the pilot side where I cut everything off. the outboard minipanles are also curved. after the flanges cure, I'll mold and glass some foam supports to their ends so the ends can be securly attached. I'll also fashion a support that couples the panel outboard bottom corners to the fuse sides/longerons.
