Brief Description:  Riveting the wing ribs

Wing ribs are all riveted and bolts are torqued and sealed. I have changed the length of the last two upper bolts. I feel they are slightly too long so I installed AN3-20A instead of -21A. Besides, I’ve discarded the supplied bolts and nuts that came with the kit because there was no way to tell if they were torqued or not so I wanted to install new hardware. The other reason for wing ribs bolts change is motivated by the FAA Special Airworthiness Information Bulletin (SAIB) HQ-14-16 regarding MS 21042 all-metal lock nuts. Transport Canada issued a similar bulletin last spring so brand new hardware is a must.

I’ve elected to fasten the ribs with the rivet shop head pointing forward. No scientific reason for this except that it fits the way all the spar parts are riveted together. Note that for rib #1, the torque tube bracket is in the way of the rivet gun so I had to install the rivets the other way around.

Finally, I haven’t riveted the last rib (as called in the plans) since it will be riveted with the last rib (W-1009-R) of the Leading Edge assembly.
