Layed out split lines along which the cowling must be split so that lower and upper cowl can be removed without removing the propeller. So lines were drawn perpendicular to the firewall line. 5 holes were drilled along a line 5/8 below and parallel to the split line. 5 more were drilled above as well. Using some .040 aluminum, I fabricated an attachment plate which I then match drilled to the split line. To strengthen the cowling at the split line, I used two pieces of Kevlar and epoxied in place While the epoxy cured, I drilled the attach plate for 8-32 nut plates.
