Brief Description:  Attaching Rear Seat Backs

Measured the standard Van's RV-10 seat back frames and the Cleaveland Tools custom seat back frames upholstered by Oregon Aero. Determined the need to move the hinges inboard 1/4" on each seat back in order to provide space for the upholstered middle section between the seat backs.

Determined rivet hole spacing of 1-7/8" starting 3/8" in from end of hinge half, with the row of holes 5/16" up from the bottom edge of the seat frame bottom angle.

Drilled the seat back bottom angle as layed out above with #40 drill, deburred the holes, clamped the hinge half in place on the back side of the angle, and match drilled all the holes to #30. Removed the hinge half and deburrred the holes. Clecoed the hinge half back in place and riveted with AN470AD4-5 rivets according to the seat back plans on pages 42-3 and 42-4.

Installed the seat backs to confirm proper fit as shown in Image 1.

Sanded the bump out for the mixture arm to smooth it. Cleaned it and coated it with a thin epoxy/micro mix to seal it and level a couple of indents.
