Brief Description:  Cowl Modifications & Heated Seats

Continued to work on the oil door latch. Cleaned up area re-sealed yesterday with epoxy/flox. Had to enlarge area cut from foam/fiberglass stiffening layer to properly fit the button latch. In doing so, I over cut one area, breaking through the top of the door.

Determined the correct position of the button latch, held it in place with cleco spring clamps and drilled each of the 4 mounting holes in turn, inserting clecoes into each hole as it was drilled. With the buttton latch now properly positions, removed the latch from the door and applied neat epoxy into the area over cut, as well as into the foam cuts to seal them.

Removed the fiberglass/epoxy/micro bump-out formed yesterday over the small hole required for the mixture arm on the throttle body. Cleaned up this bump-out and was suprised it was a bit flexible. Sanded the bump-out piece and the cowl area for the bump out with #60 sand paper, then cleaned up with acetone. Glued the bump out piece into place on the cowl using an epoxy/cabosil mixture.

Removed the center tunnel cover plate to access wiring for the seat heaters. Using an ohm meter, traced out the seat hearter wiring harness provided with the heater pads and developed a complete diagram of the heater circuits. Determined that I need to run 6 wires from the panel to the seats for each heater, with each wire sized to carry 10 amps (#18 AWG acceptable but will likely use #16 AWG to reduce voltage drop).
