Brief Description:  Oil Door Hinge and Latch

Spent some time going through the drawings and list of work not yet completed to refresh my memory after 9 months of not working on the plane due to my fractured heal. Other than the avionics installation and wiring, most of the work has been completed.

Drilled the oil door for the hidden hinge. (Installed additional foam at the hinge location previously so that the hinge lays flat with proper orientation.)
Trimmed the door slightly to fit better within the oil door opening in the cowl, using sandpaper glued to a 1 x 2 stick.

Layed out the oil door latch onto the oil door. Drilled the latch mounting holes. Traced the latch outline on the inside of the door, onto the stiffing foam previously installed onto the door interior side with fiberglass and epoxy.

Cut out the fiberglass & foam on the back side ot the door to fit the latch. Used a straight cylindrical burr in the Dremel with the depth control adapter to cut out the fiberglass/epoxy top layer without cutting the fiberglass door under the foam. Then trimmed the foam remaining within the latch outline using a razor knife and finger nails. Temporarily installed latch using clecoes, however latch sits a little high and doesn't properly engage the edge of the cowl. Will work to resolve this tomorrow.
