Brief Description:  Nose Wheel Fairing

Continued work on the nose wheel fairing.

Marked the screw locations on the fairing brackets, placed the fairing into place and adjusted the position to match the measurements called out in the plans. Marked and trimmed the opening for the tire to provide the 5/8" clearance called for in the plans.

Drilled the 1.5" hole in the forward half of the fairing and cut the slot per the plans. This appears to have place the end of the slot too far forward, but other than a wider gap it shouldn't hurt anything.

Got everything aligned per the plans after several adjustments, then drilled the holes in the fairing brackets, including the tow bar holes on each side. Used a step drill to enlarge the tow bar holes to 1" dia. after removing the fairing. Threaded the holes in the brackets.

Placed epoxy-flox in the areas of the fairing bracket attach points and installed the brackets. Made sure the epoxy-flox was brought around the bracket flanges. Then slid the rear fairing brackets into place around the nose wheel, and re-installed the U-1024 stand-offs and the bolts to hold the brackets in-place. Clecoed the front part of the fairing in place and let the epoxy-flox cure overnight.
