Brief Description:  Finished Windscreen Fairing

Sanded the final coat of thinned epoxy applied yesterday to a smooth finish using 80 grit sandpaper, feathering the bottom to the aluminum skin. After getting the finish smooth, worked up in sandpaper grits with 100, 150, 220, and 400 grits. Then wet sanded with 500 and 1000 grit, resulting in a very smooth fairing surface. (This surface will have to be roughed up prior to painting, but I wanted it smooth for now as I won't be able to get the exterior painted until after Phase 1 testing is completed.) Removed the electrical tape at the top and lightly sanded the edge of the fairing epoxy.

Sanded the epoxy applied yesterday around the edges of the side windows and removed the masking.

Masked the sides and top of the windscreen about 1/4" down from the edge of the plexiglass using Scotch 35 electrical tape, and then sanded the exposed plexiglass, cured adhesive and fiberglass cabin top for application of epoxy-micro. Mixed up a very thick putty of epoxy and micro by adding micro bubbles to the point where the mix no longer looked wet/shiny. Applied this epoxy-micro putty to the gap around the top and sides of the windscreen/cabin, and removed excess and smoothed it using a plastic scraper.
