Brief Description:  Second Fiberglass Layer on Windscreen

Sanded the epoxy/fiberglass tape applied to the interface fairing on the lower windscreen and top skin. Used a piece of pipe insulation as a sanding block with 80 grit sandpaper rolled around it to do the sanding. Sanded it aggressively to remove high and rough spots so that the next layers would not exaggerate these and make the final sanding and shaping more difficult.
Vacuumed the sanding dust and then cleaned the area with alcohol on paper towels.

Cut 2 strips of fiberglass tape ~40 inches long by 1/2 inch wide from either side of a strip of 4" fiberglass tape. Cut 2 strips 3/4" wide from another length of 4" fiberglass tape. I threw away the center pieces as I wanted at least one factor edge on each length of tape to be layed up to reduce fraying and ensure a straight edge on one side.

Mixed up 2 pumps of epoxy with black dye and micro to a syrup consistency. Painted an area about 1 inch high down the center of the left side of the fairing area, then layed the 1/2" fiberglass tape onto this area and wetted it out with a trimmed chip brush, using the brush to center the tape. Then did the same thing on the right side.
Made sure the tape on the left side was wet and layed one of the 3/4" strips of fiberglass tape over the 1/2" strip, placing it and wetting it out with the brush and a little more epoxy. Then did the same thing on the right side.

Since the epoxy was starting to thicken and set up, I determined that adding a 3rd layer of fiberglass tape was not a good idea at this time, and cleaned up the areas ouside of the fiberglass tape applied today using paper towels with alcohol.
