Brief Description:  Door Latch Tips & Door Gas Struts

Prepared door latch rod tips for mounting:

*Sanded each rod to clock the PlaneAround tips to point up and out. Removed the front rod and filed it as it was easily removed. Sanded the rear rod in-place using the Dremel tool with a flat disk and sand paper.
* Placed the magnet into each tip using a small amount of straight epoxy which I placed into the tip with a syringe, then inserted the magnet and pressed it down into the tip with a popsicle stick cut down to fit into the tip. Then soaked up the excess epoxy on the top of the magnet with a paper towel corner. Let the epoxy cure for about 5 hours, and then cleaned the threads with a tap.

Installed the door gas strut attach bracket WD-1023 for the right door to the fiberglass cabin top:

* Determined the bracket location and cut slots into the overhead console edge to allow the bracket to fit through the console in order to attach it to the cabin top. Drilled 2 #40 holes at the end of the horizontal slot and used the Dremel with a small diamond cylindrical burr to create the slot between the two holes. Then used the Dremel to cut slots vertically on both sides. Test fit the bracket and cut the slots larger to fit the bracket.
* Placed the bracket into place and adjusted the position for best fit to the top. Removed the rear hinge which was in the way. Clamped it and drilled the rear hole with a #40 drill. Then straightened the #40 hole from the outside where there was access space. Enlarged the #40 hole to #21 and then #12 and inserted a screw into the hole and fastened with a nut to hole the back in place. Slightly adjusted the position, clamped the bracket in place and drilled the front hole with #40. Enlarged the hole to #12 and installed a screw with nut. Drilled the center hole with #40. Enlarged the middle hole from above to #12. Removed the screws and bracket, and deburred the holes in the bracket. Counter sunk the holes from the top to accomodate the screws.
* Installed the bracket per the plans, then re-installed the rear hing
