Brief Description:  Fix Overhead Lights, Seat Heaters; Worked on G5 Mo

In order to trouble shoot the overhead lights problem, removed the lower center panel containing the switches and some circuit breakers. Found the wire to the overhead light switch was not installed on the switch. Connected it to the switch and tested the lights, finding that they now work properly.

With the switch panel out, decided to trouble shoot the seat heater lack of power. Found that the connectors between the seat heater switches and the wires to the seats had several pins that had been pushed out during mating. Determined that the pins were not locking into the connector shells. Replaced the connectors and pins on both switches with Molex connectors. These pins locked into the molex shells, and when connected the seat heater lights now show a green light when the heat in on low and a yellow light when they are switched to high. Replaced the lower center panel.

Worked on designing a mounting bracket for the G5 similar to the one i took pictures of on Rob Hickman's RV-10 at Air Venture. Tried a template made of card stock first. Then cut an aluminum blank and placed a #40 center hole where the 3.125" instrument hole will be punched. Tried bending a smaller piece of scrap aluminum of the same thickness and I don't think I can make the triple bend required to wrap the bottom flange around the glare shield rear rubber edge. Will likely have to cut the bottom section of the rubber edge out so that a single bend will meet the under side of the glare shield and screw through the shield to hold it.

Ran wires to the GMU location at the right wing tip from the wing root using the installed conduit..
