Brief Description:  Determining LRU Mounting Locations

Worked to determine the best mounting locations for each of the Garmin LRUs, both alternator voltage regulators, the CO detector, and the IBBS unit.

The voltage regulators will be mounted on the sub-panel, with the main VR on the right side of the sub-panel and the standby regulator on the left side.

The AHRS will be mounted on the sub-panel in the center, where the pitot and static tubing can then be routed up through the glare shield to the G-5.

All of the other remote LRUs will be mounted on the trays provided with the panel, either on the tray or on the side support for the tray. 2 LRUs per each of the 3 trays.

Had to trim the back of the center and right trays in order to clear the GTR 20 tray mounted to the sub-panel last week (right tray) and the GTN650 mounts (center tray). In order to trim enough off the right tray, had to drill out the rivets holding one of the tray plate nuts in place, trim the tray and side supports, and then re-install the nut plate in a more forward location. For the center tray, only had to trim the bottom tray so it does not extend past the side supports.

Since I haven't purchased the IBBS, I glued up a block of foam to represent the IBBS package to include it in the layout.

Will check the locations of the LRUs with the EFIS units next, and if ok will then begin mounting the LRSs.
