Brief Description:  Flap Position Transmitter

Installed the flap position transmitter to the right side of fuselage on the outside.

Fabricated a small plate to mount to the right side flap horn with a #30 home in the middle for the Dubro Heavy-Duty Ball Links 4-40 received on Saturday from Tower Hobbies. Drilled a #30 hole in 2 corners for mounting the plate to the flap horn.

Match drilled 2 holes for rivets into the flap horn for mounting the attachment plate. Installed one of the ball links into the mounting plate using the hardware that came with them. Clecoed the plate with ball link to the flap horn.

Enlarged the hole in the Ray Allen POS-12 linear potentiometer actuator to #30 and mounted the second ball link to the POS-12 actuator.

Determined an approximate position on the fuselage outside for the POS-12 and mounting bracket fabricated earlier. Measured and cut an appropriate length of 4-40 Threaded Rod to join the two ball links.

Positioned the POS-12 onto the mounting bracket and drilled 2 mounting holes. Counter sunk the holes in the POS-12 using a deburing tool, and then attached the POS-12 to the bracket with #4 flat head screws, washers & nuts. Installed the threaded rod into the ball links on both the mounting plate and the POS-12.

Marked an approximated location for the mounting bracket onto the side of the fuselage. Stroked the flap motor to both ends of it's travel and refinded the location for mounting bracket. Left a small amount of actuator travel unused in the flaps up position, as this end of flap travel must be accurately measured to recognized the difference between 3 deg. up reflex and 0 deg. neutral flap positions.

Match drilled the mounting holes for the bracket and riveted the bracket to the fuselage using LP4-3 pulled rivets. Riveted the mounting plate to the flap horn using LP4-3 rivets.

Assembled the entire position sensor and stroked the flap motor to ensure that the sensor works over the full range of travel.

Also unpacked and inventoried the 5 boxes received over the past 3 days. Teste
