Brief Description:  Seat Floor Access Hatch Fabrication (continued)

Measured, cut and installed 3/4 x 3/4 x 1/16" aluminum angles to the sides of the stiffeners F-1017 to support the rear seat floors F-1024 adjacent to the access plate cut outs.

Prepared 2 pieces of angle each 6 inches long. Determined locations for 5 rivets to attach each angle to the side of the stiffeners such that the angle will support the floor at the edge of the cut out. Drilled #30 holes in the angles and deburred. Clamped the angles to the stiffeners in the location such that the top arm of the angle is flush with the top flange of the stiffener. Match hole drilled through the angle holes into the stiffener using a 90 deg. angle drill.

Riveted the angles in place using LP-4 rivets, as the narrow space between the stiffeners along with the flange and angle leg make access to drive or squeeze solid rivets nearly impossible. Since this support angle is not a primary structural component, the LP-4 rivets should be adequate. Even with the LP-4 rivets I had to hand set them, as there wasn't room for the nose of the pneumatic puller to fit.
