Brief Description:  Install Left Door Seal

Deburred the aluminum strips cut yesterday to use with clecoes for clamping the door seal material while gluing. Drilled one hole in each strip, 3/8" from one of the long edges and in the middle of the strip, and deburred the hole.

Started to remove the door in order to install the weather seal with the door on a bench, but decided this would be difficult at this time when working by myself, and so decided it would be better to glue the seals to the doors with the doors in place. Re-installed the door strut and re-tightened the door screws.

Installed the door seal on the right door using GE Silicone 2+ clear 100% silicone in a caulking tube. (I couldn't find the 3M Silicone seal that Van's used at wither Lowes or Home Depot.)

Used mold release on each of the clamping strips so they won't stick to the seal. Started on the bottom and worked my way clockwise around the door by placing silicone on about a foot of the seal material, and then holding it in place, match drilling a #40 hole through the seal material and door edge, and then installing a clecoe. Sometimes I was able to hold the clamping strip in place after drilling and insert the clecoe, but other times it would slip so I would have to place the cleco through the clamping strip, then through the hole in the seal materiial, and finally through the hole that had been drilled in the door edge. Worked this way around the door, adding silicone sealant about a foot at a time as I moved around the door. Cut the door seal to butt up to the starting point using scissors once within ~3" of the start/end point.

Cleaned up and left the door to cure over night.
