Brief Description:  Prepared Cabin Top for Riveting

Match drilled the rivet backing strips for the bottom sides of the fiberglass cabin top. Clamped the strips to the cabin flange with cleco clamps and then used a wood block behind the strip to back up the strip and hold it tight for drilling.

When all holes were drilled, marked the strips for proper length and removed them from the cabin top. Trimed the strips to proper lengths with snips, and deburred all the holes and the edges.

Dimpled the fuselage side skins for #30 rivets for connection to the cabin top. Dimpled the forward tail cone top skin for the #30 rivets for connection to the cabin top.

Countersunk all the #30 rivet holes in the cabin top sides and back to accept the dimpled skins. Required fabrication of a shim to allow the countersink cage to sit flat across the cabin top flange joggle, as recommended by the drawings.

Riveted the F-1024F Gussets to the F-1042 side channels.

Inserted and countersunk the remaining F-10106 spacer and cabin cover for attachment of the WD-1043 Cabin Brace. Used super glue to lock the spacer in the hole so it didn't spin while machine counter sinking, with a wood block clamped to the back side of the spacer to hold it from pushing down into the hole.

Cabin top is now ready for permanent mounting to the fuselage after it is painted.
