Brief Description: Revised Top Cowl Firewall Pin Clip
Removed top cowl and retrieved the clip that holds the top firewall hinge pins in place. Re-installed the top cowl. Found it impossible to install the top pin clip.
Decided to make a new 2 piece clip that would allow relatively easy attachment of the clip. Used 2024-T3 x 0.063 inch aluminum plate to make new plates. Used MK1000-06 nut plates and then threaded the additional hole to attach the small top clip to the larger bottom clip after pins are in place. Re-installed the top cowl.
Found that the easiest way to install or remove the top cowl firewall pins is to loosen the the new top clip without removing it. This provides enough room for the pins to slide past/above the clip. Then once the pins are in place, the clip can be tightened to lock the pins into place.
