Brief Description:  Completed Fuel Flow Tests

Completed fuel flow testing of boost pump by removing the hose connection at the throttle body. Placed 2 gallons in each wing tank. Flowed fuel into a 8 quart bucket with level markings, starting flow and then measuring time to flow 4 quarts into the bucket. Measured flow from the left tank with aircraft level at 58 seconds. Flow from right tank took 54 seconds for 1 gallon. Then pulled the tail low using a strap tie down ratchet between the tail tie-down and a concrete weight to get a 7 deg. nose high angle, and re-tested. Left wing flow was 1 gallon in 56 seconds, and right wing flow in 55 seconds.

So hourly flow rates of 60 min X (60 sec / 54 sec) = 66.6 gph. For the slower case 60 min X (60 sec. / 58 sec) = 62.0 gph. Assume an average of 65 gph. Per the Lycoming Operating Manual the fuel consumption for rated power fo the IO-540-A is 24.6 gal/hr, then my furl flows are 65/24.6 + 264% of engine max rated demand.
