Brief Description:  Completed Wiring for GTN 650

Completed P1003, P1004, and P1001 connectors for the GTN 650, completing all GTN wiring.

In order to provide backup power to the GTN 650 from the IBBS, I had to install a diode in the power line from the circuit breaker and in the power line from the IBBS. Since these diodes are sized for 15 amps max current, they are fairly large in diameter and won't fit within the back shell. After some experimenting I found the best way to install the diodes was to use a butt splice crimp connector on each diode lead. Then installed the power wires into the butt splice for power into the diode and the power wires out to P1001. Soldered the smaller #22 wires to the #20 connected to the diodes to fit the micro crimp pins and used heat shrink to insulate and neaten up the installation around the diodes.

Installed the back shell for P1001 upside down so that there was room above the connector to fasten the 8 shield drain wires to the shell, as the space under the P1001 shell is very tight due to the GTN fan being just below the connector. This worked out fine.

Now have all 4 connectors mounted to the GTN 650 back plane with the wires temporarily bundled with tie-wraps. Will use waxed lacing to neaten up the bundle and replace the tie-wraps as the wiring harness is mounted to the panel and aircraft.
