Brief Description:  Filtered Air Box Baffling

Spent the day working on the baffling for the air inlet to the FAB. Decided to follow the work of another builder found at Van's Air Force in order to have a baffle that will allow easy bottom cowl installation by allowing the lower baffle piece to be folded back so that the cowl can be lifted into place and the bottom baffle fabric then unfolded into position.

Had to cut aluminum sheet to fit inside the FAB inlet and outside the FAB inlet in order to hold the baffle fabric in the right shape and avoid rivets pulling through the FAB fiberglass. Used poster board paper to cut a template and fit it since wrapping around the rectangular FAB inlet required an unusual shape. After confirming the right shape for the template, used the template to lay out the cuts and then snips to make the cuts. Used part of the side skin cut out for the baggage door for the aluminum sheet.

Placed the aluminum backers into place with the baffle fabric sandwiched between them, held in place with cleco spring clamps, and drilled the #40 rivet mounting holes. Removed these and deburred the holes. Dimpled the inside backers so that the flat head of the rivets would not extend into the air stream, and then counter sunk the baffle fabric to fit with the dimpled backer.

Put everything together with clecoes to confirm it all fits together properly
