Brief Description:  Left Intake Baffle Modification for Air Conditione

Using photos provided by Bill Genevro of Airflow Systems for reference, began the process of modifying the engine baffles to accomodate the air conditioner compressor.

Started with a piece of thin cardboard cut to match the left inlet baffle ramp and top portion. Placed this into position with the compressor in place but the belt removed and determined the interference areas that will need to be cut away. Cut the cardboard and re-fitted several times until it seemed to be fitting about right.

Transfered the cut outs from the cardboard to the aluminum ramp baffle and cut them out using tin snips and a hand nibbler. Tried the fit and found I needed to remove a bit more (I purposely cut the cardboard a bit under size). After several minor adjustments and fit tries, got to a fit for the baffle that seems to work well.

Went back to the cardboard template and started working on the slot location for the belt to fit through the ramp. Tried several times, and ended up with a slot the was too long, but better on the cardboard than the aluminum.

Transfered the slot without the excess opening and cut the slot in the aluminum baffle. After fitting the baffle, found that I had still cut the slot too far to the left side, so enlarged it a couple of times until the belt fit properly through the slot when tensioned. Will probably use a small piece of baffle "fabric" to close up the slot a little for a closer fit in the finished baffle.

Found that the air box drain tube installed yesterday had open areas on the sides of the tube as the fiberglass didn't hug the tube well (was too stiff). Mixed up a thick mix of epoxy with micro bubbles, and pushed this mixture into the open areas between the fiberglass and the tube to better hold the tube to the airbox.
