Brief Description:  Wheel Fairings

Installed the main gear wheel fairings using all of the final screws. These 2 fairings are now complete.

Started to work on the main gear leg fairings, however I'm not sure if I am to make the U-1017B Gear Leg Fairing Hinges from the 6 ft. length of piano hinge .063 so will wait until I can call Van's builder support to confirm.

Also, Page 48-13 which has the trim template is not printed to proper scale in my plans. So I will take the pdf version of that page (from the plans CD I purchased from Vans) to Office Depot and print it to the proper scale.

Started fitting the nose wheel fairing. Had to enlarge the slot at the bottom of the rear fairing half to fit the tire. Had to trim about 1/4" from both edges and 1.5" from the rear to lengthen the slot in order to meet the dimensions shown on page 48-17 figure 3. Also had to trim the top flange to fit around the gear leg, cutting 3/4" deep with half of a 1.5" hole. All of this trimming required removal and re-installation of the rear fairing several times until it fit properly.

[Stopped work on the RV-10 at 4:10 pm in order to paint the nose wheel fairing for installation on my Grumman Traveler at next week's annual inspection.]
